Kimiharu as a first-year maiko by WATASAN on Flickr
First-year maiko often look awkward and shy but Kimiharu has been a stunning and elegant lady from the very beginning. Her career started when she came to Kyoto with her biological sister Kimika for a sightseeing and tried the popular tourist attraction - dressing up as a maiko. They felt so well in this outfit so they thought about become real maiko-san. Later, they both became geiko but now only Kimika is still working.
Soft mint green with red accents is a classic color combination, especially for young girls’ 3-5-7 Kimono. Here it adds freshness and youth to this already youthful furisode, with the gigantic cherry and kiku blossoms. There are also Temari balls in there if you look closely, making this kimono appropriate for fall, winter or spring.
